The Advantages of PTFE Filter

High Efficiency Particulate Air Filters (HEPA Filter) and Ultra Low Particulate Air Filters (ULPA Filter) are usually made of glass fiber, glass fiber filters usually contain 10% boron. However, boron will decompose and gasify when wet or exposed to acid (hydrogen fluoride). Although the outgassing is extremely low, it still has affection in highly sensitive environments such as cleanrooms in semiconductors, optoelectronics, and medical industries. PTFE filters are free of boron and other vaporizing substances which is stable under extreme conditions.

PTFE Filter (Polytetrafluoroethylene Filter) has many advantages, it is popular in cleanroom applications when the manufacturing environments need tight control, such as in the semiconductor industry. These advantages help maintain a high cleanliness level manufacturing process environment.

Advantages of PTFE Filter

1. Excellent chemical resistant

PTFE has high chemical erosion-resistant performance, it can resist chemical substances such as acids, alkalis, and organic solvents. This feature makes PTFE stable with various chemical and volatile substances in the environment. Especially when dealing with strong acids (such as hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, etc.), PTFE filters can maintain stability without being corroded and are widely used in chemical processing, semiconductor manufacturing, optoelectronics, pharmaceuticals, and other industries. Its chemical resistance not only effectively prevents damage to the filter from chemical substances, but also ensures that the purity of the sample is not contaminated during the filtration process, thereby providing the accuracy of subsequent analysis.

2. High filtration efficiency

PTFE filter has an extremely fine pore structure and the filtration efficiency can be 99.99% to 99.999995%. It can effectively filter small particles such as dust, particles, and aerosols from 0.1µm to 0.3µm. It is suitable for environments with extremely high requirements for air cleanliness. Ensure the air quality meets the high standards of semiconductor manufacturing processes.

3. Low pressure drop and high airflow rate

Because of the optimized structures, PTFE filter is smooth and has good air permeability. Low pressure drop means the resistance is low when the air goes through, it not only improves the efficiency of the air filtration but also reduces the energy consumption of the HVAC system and achieves the energy-saving effect. PTFE filter can help stabilize the airflow, low pressure also extends the service life of the filter.

4. Long-term stability and durability

PTFE filter is highly durable, it can maintain stable performance in a harsh environment for a long time, reducing the filter replacement frequency and maintenance costs, this can help improve production efficiency. PTFE filter is strong and does not generate particles when pleated or used, therefore, it does not contaminate the environment.

5. Hydrophobic and anti-adhesive

The surface of PTFE is hydrophobic and anti-adhesive by nature, this can prevent moisture and particles from attaching to the filter surface. PTFE can also maintain stable filtration efficiency in humid environments. It is more stable and reliable than filter media uses electrostatic to capture particles. PTFE filter can reduce the risk of contamination while maintaining the filtration performance.

6. Flexible for precision manufacturing process

PTFE filter can be customized according to different requirements, it is suitable for use in various equipment and clean environments in the semiconductor manufacturing process and can respond to different industry standards and applications flexibly.

7. Low outgassing

PTFE filter does not contain boron, potassium, silicon, or other substances that will vaporize in humid or acidic environments, so the PTFE filter does not release molecules, this avoids the risk of contamination in highly sensitive cleanroom in semiconductors, optoelectronics, and medical industries.

These advantages make PTFE filter an indispensable component in the semiconductor industry and other processes that require high cleanliness level environments.
